Fun Winter Activities In Chicago

Chicago is known for its long, hard winters. But that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside for the next several months. There are plenty of fun winter activities near OneEleven Apartments to enjoy including:

Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School – The Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School is known for providing students the best opportunity to ski and snowboard with skill and confidence. All of the instructors are certified Levels 2 or 3 by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors. Level 3 is the highest level of certification. During the first weekend in March, students can participate in a weekend trip to Wisconsin’s Granite Peak.

ZooLights (December 9-23, 26-31, & January 1) – Every year, the Lincoln Park Zoo is illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights. The fun includes musical light shows, holiday gift shopping, and ice sculpture carving.

McCormick Tribune Ice Rink – For sixteen years, the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink has welcomed more than 100,000 skaters annually. Located in Millennium Park, admission is free (skate rental is twelve dollars) and open to the public through March 5. Every Friday through Sunday, the Department of Cultural Affairs offer lessons one hour before the rink opens and between December 24 and January 8, skaters can also enjoy speeding skating and ice skating demonstrations.

Soldier Field Sledding Hill – When you’re ready for some sledding fun, head to the southeast side of Soldier Field. There you will find a thirty-three-foot sledding hill operated by the Park District. When there is little to no snow, the district uses a snow-making machine.
