Meet Friends for a Pint at Cultivate by Forbidden Root
The next time you head out for happy hour, consider hopping the Brown Line to Cultivate by Forbidden Root. Its side taproom is dedicated almost exclusively to craft beer—namely, craft beer brewed in-house. Some other local breweries showcase their suds here, too, which you can enjoy over a board game with friends.
The taproom is a pared-down version of the main restaurant and bar, where you’ll also find an impressive array of craft brews. But the beer is just the beginning. The gastropub bites, salads, and meat and seafood dishes are just as enticing. Start by sharing some of the chili-lime popcorn and house-made potato chips, or build a cheese board with wedges from across the country and the globe. For the main course, keep it light with Andreotti burrata and roasted beets artfully perched atop sliced baguette with blood orange and beet demi-glace. Or, for something a little more substantial, try the mussels marinated in Nayarit sauce and cilantro or the chili-rubbed short ribs with a walnut-date pesto. Cap it all off with a gourmet s’more Rice Krispie treat.
