3 Ways to Celebrate Halloween in Chicago
One Eleven residents are only a short drive or train ride away from exciting Halloween events in Chicago. This October, hit the town to enjoy the fall vibes of the city, or grab your best costume and participate in the events. If you attend any of the celebrations below, you’ll certainly enjoy your time out.
Pier Pumpkin Lights
We’re excited about the Navy Pier’s first-ever Pier Pumpkin Lights. Bring your camera and check out the assortment of jack o’ lanterns and light displays along Chicago’s iconic lakefront. Also, check out the various fall-themed food and drink offers at participating establishments on the pier. This spectacular display of autumn will be open through the end of the month.
Boyston’s Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade
On Thursday, October 31st, Boyston’s Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade will make its way down Halstead Street with fun displays, colorful floats, and eye-catching costumes. There will also be prizes for the “best dressed” visitors at the parade. Also, bars along the street will be open during the festivities to celebrate Halloween in Chicago.
Day of the Dead Celebration
If you’re looking for something to do with some cultural flair, you may want to head over to the National Museum of Mexican Art to experience their Day of the Dead Celebration. The museum and the nearby Harrison Park will be transformed into a beautiful space featuring lights, projections, and visual displays so visitors can remember departed loved ones. On October 27th, enjoy live music performances, face painting, other arts & crafts, and traditional Pan de Muerto (Day of the Dead Bread). You can also enjoy the museum’s exhibits the following week.
