Celebrate at These St. Patrick’s Day Events in Chicago

Chicago is a great place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and OneEleven residents are close to many of the most popular events. The Windy City is known for its Irish spirit and elaborate festivities, so make plans to attend some of these St. Patrick’s Day events in Chicago next weekend!

Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

Kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend by attending the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago. The dinner honors the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade’s grand marshal and sponsors. This elaborate dinner will be served the evening of March 15 at Hilton Chicago.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Chicago’s most popular St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Columbus Drive between Balbo Street and Monroe Street. This year’s theme is “The Music of Ireland,” and the parade begins at noon on Saturday, March 16. While many smaller parades also take place throughout the city, the main Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade route is a short walk from OneEleven.

The Dyed Chicago River

OneEleven residents have the best view in town of the Chicago River, as West Wacker Drive runs along its southern bank. Your living room can be the best place to enjoy the green Chicago River every March. Also, you can watch the dye be poured from your window view while staying warm. The river will be dyed at 9 am on March 16, just before the St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off, near the beginning of the parade route.

St. Paddy’s Day 5K and 8K

Take a scenic run along the lakefront at the St. Paddy’s Day 5K or 8K! Wear your best green costume, and run or walk one of two courses along Lake Michigan with a crowd of local Chicago residents. Both races start at 2410 North Cannon Drive in Lincoln Park. The St. Paddy’s Day races begin at 10 a.m. on March 16.

St. Patrick’s Festival

Visit the St. Patrick’s Festival at the Irish American Heritage Center for an afternoon of fun after the parade. This event features traditional Irish performances, crafts, gifts, food, and more from 1 p.m. through midnight on March 16.

There are even more exciting events that make our location in the heart of downtown Chicago a great place to live! Also, enjoy more music at these restaurants with live music once the festivities are over. Contact our leasing agents at OneEleven today to learn about everything we have to offer.
