Explore Millennium Park
If you’re looking to enjoy concerts, exhibitions, family activities, and exciting tours all in one place, head to Millennium Park. Located less than ten minutes from One Eleven Apartments, this 24.5 acre property was once an industrial wasteland before becoming a world-class park. Some of what you can see and do during your visit includes:
Chakaia Booker Exhibit – Located in the Boeing Galleries, this exhibit displays six new sculptures by American artist Chakaia Booker. She created them using only stainless steel and rubber tires. You can see this unique exhibit through April 2018.
Lurie Garden – Open year-round from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., this beautiful garden is a great spot to take a leisurely stroll. It includes paved paths, Russian sage, Lenten roses, butterfly weeds, rusty foxgloves, and a lit, 15-foot high hedge. If you would like an in-depth look at the garden, take a guided tour held every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday through September 23.
Chicago Jazz Festival – The Chicago Jazz Festival is a fun Labor Day tradition that features free, live musical performances. This event will take place September 1st through the 4th.
Harris Theater – Located next to the Millennium Park Welcome Center, the Harris Theater is home to some of the city’s well-known dance and musical companies, such as Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Chicago Opera Theater.
Concessions – If you would like a delicious snack, food trucks are often on-site, especially when the park is showing films or hosting musical artists. Trucks include Harold’s Chicken, La Cocinita, and Warm Belly Bakery.
